I really enjoyed my first time serving at Bradley Hall care home and it was a wonderful experience. I loved playing games, making crafts and overall just laughing with the residents. it was an experience filled with joy and entertainment and i would love to be able to come again. Lakshmi
I was not sure what to expect as it was my first time and at the start I was unsure how I should interact but as we got going I felt at ease and I’m sure that was helped by the residents being so welcoming. I could see the smiles on their faces and the enjoyment they got from the hour that was spent there and I look forward to more opportunities like this to help out where I can.
My interaction with one of the residents at the Home was quite interesting. To start with the lady was reluctant to participate, as she felt that we were there to tell her what she should do and not do and she had to be helped because of her age, so I let her alone for a while. But, soon after watching others enjoying themselves in different games being played, she showed interest to play with one of the games with me and there was a change on her face as she realised that we were there to spend some time with them but only if they wished.
Saturday 11 October 2025 Vishram Ghar
A wonderful afternoon at Vishram Ghar Care Home
This time, two of the Balvikas children joined us — and they absolutely loved doing arts and crafts with the residents.
We began the session with three Oms, the Gayatri Mantra, and the Hanuman Chalisa, followed by a joyful Ram Dhun accompanied by guitar and tambourine 🎶.
With Diwali around the corner, the arts and crafts activity focused on Rangoli pattern colouring, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. One of the residents, a former Indian classical dance teacher, even gave us a short, graceful performance — which naturally flowed into some chair yoga and a spontaneous game of Antakshari, suggested by another resident.
A truly heartwarming afternoon of love, joy, and service, with 12 devotees representing the Leicester Sai Centres.
We offer our heartfelt thanks to Our Dearest Swami for blessing us with this wonderful opportunity for service, especially in this most auspicious Centenary Year of His Divine Advent.

Leicester Sai Centres Share Joy to Bradley Hall Care Home
On Saturday 20th September, seven volunteers from the Leicester Sai Centres hosted a lively and heartwarming afternoon of activities for the residents of Bradley Hall Care Home. The event began with the Lord’s Prayer, followed by a short introduction about our group and the exciting plans for the afternoon.
The activities started with a Halloween-themed craft session, where the residents coloured in a variety of wooden cut-out shapes featuring festive designs. These colourful creations were strung together to form charming hanging decorations or assembled into cheerful displays. Volunteers were on hand to support residents with colouring and pattern ideas, ensuring everyone felt included and inspired.
After the crafts, the fun continued with a selection of games—from classic dominos and skittles to a delightful “The Tiger Who Came to Tea” card-matching challenge. Smiles lit up the room as residents and volunteers shared laughter and friendly competition.
Around 12 residents joined us for the afternoon, and the joy and gratitude expressed by them made the afternoon truly special. We’re always thrilled to welcome centre members and friends to join us in these care home visits. They’re not only meaningful for the residents—but just as rewarding and enjoyable for us!

On Saturday the 9th of August 2025, ten volunteers including myself and my brother went to Vishram Ghar as part of the Care Home Seva in Leicester. At the care home 19 residents were eagerly waiting our arrival. As we walked in we immediately greeted the staff and all the residents. We started off with 3 Aums and 3 Gayatri’s and the Hanuman Chalisa. Most of the residents knew the Gayatri Mantra and the Hanuman Chalisa and joined in with us. The next activity was decorating a picture frame, some of the residents needed help, so myself and my brother decorated the frame for them. I think that the residents enjoyed the activity because they were very creative and made some lovely, decorated frames. After this activity we played all sorts of games we brought to the home like, connect 4, Jenga, throw the bean bag, dominoes and carom. My favourite game was throwing the bean bag, because sports is my favourite hobby. Then all the volunteers each sang a bhajan including myself and my brother, all the residents had smiles on their faces and were clapping and singing along to the bhajans. Finally one of the auntie volunteers conducted chair yoga, the residents and volunteers all joined in. Being able to serve the elderly is a privilege because it’s good to see the residents happy and having fun. As a Bal Vikas student it was lovely to practice Swami’s teachings. As Swami says, ‘Love All, Serve All’.

Saturday 21 June 2025 Vishram Ghar
A truly special afternoon today as we made our first visit to Vishram Ghar care home (Leicester). It was a privilege to share Swami’s Love with the residents, beginning with prayers and then engaging in delightful activities like Jenga, matching cards, skittles, and colouring. The time spent talking and listening to each resident’s wonderful stories was particularly impactful. We concluded with chair yoga, which was, as always, greatly enjoyed. A highlight was witnessing one of the female residents perform a North Indian classical dance and a Punjabi gentleman dance to some Bhangra with two of our volunteers.
This experience was a beautiful example of sharing Swami’s Love in the community, a humble offering at His Lotus Feet during this Centenary Year. We eagerly await our next opportunity to serve. Jai Sai Ram
Saturday 7 June 2025 Bradley Hall Care Home
With Swami’s Grace we had another opportunity to have a truly lovely time at Bradley Hall Care Home this afternoon.
An enjoyable session with the residents. We spent quality time together, chatting, colouring, and playing a variety of games including Jenga, dominoes, and skittles. The session ended on a high note with some lively dancing to the “Hokey Cokey,” followed by relaxing chair yoga.
It was wonderful to see everyone engaged and having such a good time.
Saturday 12 April 2025 Bradley Hall Care Home
We have just had an absolutely wonderful session at Bradley Hall Care Home, here in Leicester today. Engaging residents (the oldest being 95 years old) in games like dominos, giant Jenga, hoop throwing, and Dobble. The highlight was mug decorating with stencils and coloured acrylic pens, resulting in impressive creations. The session concluded with chair yoga, music, and the distribution of Swami’s Prasadam (chocolate Easter Eggs), leaving everyone looking forward to the next visit on June 7th. Saturday 8 February 2025 Bradley Hall Care Home
On Saturday 8 February 2025, 8 volunteers from Leicester Sai Centres presented a Valentines Day theme programme for the residents and staff at Bradley Hall Care Home. The programme was attended by 14 guests plus a member of staff. The programme consisted of reciting the “Lord’s Prayer”, then we had a craft activity where residents made up valentine cards with stickers (loved shapes, stars, and many more designs) and personal messages to their loved ones, which was enjoyed by all. This was followed by games such as dominoes, Connect 4, Doubles and Bean bags in a ring. Everyone had a thoroughly wonderful time. We were then treated to our very own Quiz Master (Arun) who presented a testing quiz ranging from historical questions and pictures representing words, to a spiritual uptake taking everyone on our self reflections. It was great to see the engagement with this activity. We ended our programme with Indiben conducting Chair Yoga and laughter to bring smiles on everyone present.
Saturday 14 December 2024 Bradley Hall Care Home
This is our third visit to Bradley Hall Care Home and this time Leicester Sai Centres volunteers organised a Christmas programme on Saturday 14 December. Volunteers gathered together 30 minutes before the start of the programme to set up tables, game and music for the programme. We started with the Lord’s prayer which was recited by both the volunteers and guests, followed by “Play Your Cards Right” conducted by Dolatbhai and Hansaben, Everyone had great fun with lots of smiles. Then we were all given a surprise when the Home staff brought a birthday cake out and we all sang happy birthday to the lady who had just turned 95. All residents were given a slice of cake and tea, we then continued with the programme by singing Christmas carols, during which some of the staff joined in and danced to the music, and then at the tune of Jingle Bells… Santa walked in and gave out presents to all the guests.
We then sang Merry Christmas to all and thanked everyone for permitting us to come to their Home.
Saturday 5 October 2024 Bradley Hall Care Home
On Saturday 5 October Leicester Sai Centres volunteers visited Bradley Hall Care Home to present another programme of activities. The programme was from 2.30 to 4pm and consisted of Reciting the Lord’s Prayer, Play Your Cards Right, Chair Yoga, Board Games (such as Doubles, Connect4, Dominoes and jigsaws) and dancing to the hit songs of the 1950’s and 1960’s. We had 14 residents join us together with Shelly (Home’s Activity Coordinator). Everyone had a thoroughly wonderful time and wanted to know when we will come again.
Saturday 17 August 2024 Bradley Hall Care Home
On Saturday 17 August 2024 volunteers from Leicester Sai Centres organised an event for the residents of Bradley Hall Care Home. The group consisting of Rupert, Arunbhai, Morarbhai, Vijaybhai, Amish, Indiben, Vanitaben and Roopaben, met at the Home at 1.30 pm. This was our opportunity given to us by Sarah Clark (Home Manager) to bring joy to the residents of the Home. The programme started with a welcome by Arunbhai, who introduced group members, some information about Swami and the Organisation. This was followed by an informal chat with the residents, next was a craft activity whereby everyone was given a picture frame to decorate and for them to keep afterwards. We then had pass-the-parcel, where each parcel wrapper had a quote written on it and inside the parcel was a gift. We then had a yoga session led by Indiben and a dance with the guests. During the programme the volunteers gave out biscuits. We ended the programme with a thank you to all that were present. 8 guests from the Home attended the event and there were really good comments made by them all and looking forward to the next event.
