Inner Significance 130923

Back to Basics

Back to Basics workshop on subject ” Inner significance of Service & Team Building” held on Wednesday 13th September 2023 at 7 pm in Soar Valley College.

The aim is to bring all our Sai Service members together to discuss, share our knowledge, learn from each other and enhance our spiritual journey. After Registration and opening prayers to Swami, the questions were put to the attendees – “What motivates to serve?”, “How do we diminish our egoism?”, and “How engaging in Service reduce our negative qualities?”  The attendees jotted down their answers in group discussions, and finally all groups more or less, came out with similar answers.

Love All, Serve All, do not serve for the sake of reward, attracting attention, or earning gratitude, or from a sense of pride at your own superiority in skill, wealth, status or authority. Serve because your inner feelings motivated by Love alone, and the success of such service offered to Swami. It is good thoughts that lead to good Actions. It was also pointed out that treat all beings as same regardless of their differences as the inner Atma is same.  Readiness to serve with a smile, maintaining humbleness and politeness were also noted in some of the answers.

After a short tea break, Team Building Activity transformed to a ‘Tower Building Activity’ with humour and fun. The young Sai members wonderfully conducted the Tower Building Activity where all groups took part to build a one metre height tower to hold a sweet for 10 seconds out of newspaper, straws, sellotape and scissors. It was a successful venture, hilarious and enjoyable, so the time passed to 9.30 pm unknowingly.  The learning outcome was tremendous value as this demonstrated how an organisation should function.

Working together as a team, involves communication, involvement, problem solving, time management, leadership, learning from mistakes and correction, and above all sincerity, an urge to help is paramount. Thanks to the organisers for this successful evening workshop.  Jai Sai Ram
