Christmas party for the Elderly guests held on 16th December, 2023 in a Church Hall in Syston.
The aim was to extend our service to the Elderly in our society, by providing a day of outing at this wonderful time of Christmas.
Swami gives a Vedantic stamp to Service and says ‘paropakaarardham idam sariram’ – this body is meant to help others. It is the very purpose of this body. Hence seva should become a natural thing for us.
The guests were collected by volunteers from their homes to the venue and dropped back to their homes. The guests were entertained by engaging them in memorable activities related to general knowledge, TV and Film, jogging their past memories this way giving a sense of well being and remembering their past.
A beautiful lunch was served with all the trimmings from starters to main course and sweet treats. The combination of Asian & mouth-watering tasty food served with loving care by the volunteers.
Sri Sathya Sai Baba has stressed that the quality rather than quantity of service is most important. When we render service, we should feel that we are serving God. This is why He says, “Service to man is service to God”. Service done in this manner makes us realize that “service is done by God, to God, and for God”
After lunch the day progressed to photo frame making activities and a session of Bingo.
No Christmas party is complete without offering presents to guests and it was a wonderful day of celebrating seasonal activities with the elderly this way.
Thanks to the excellent team of Volunteers, who have taken part in caring of the elderly guests, preparing and serving such a wonderful multi cuisine meals and hosting entertainments.
