Residential Homes

Vishram Ghar 22 August 2026

Bradley Hall Care Home 6 June 2026

I went to visit a care home with this lovely group for the first time and it was an enjoyable experience. Everyone was kind caring and considerate to the people at the care homes. The elderly really appreciated everyone’s time, energy, games they brought and activities. I would love to participate again.

Vishram Ghar 9 May 2026

On the afternoon of Saturday 9 May 2026 Leicester Sai Centres Service volunteers went to Vishram Ghar, to give some love and joy to the residents of the home.

We started with Omkars and Gayatri mantra, followed by Hanuman Chalisa where everyone joined in. This was then followed by some one-to-one games like picture puzzles and decorative colouring of arts & craft. We then continued with some bhajans sang beautifully by some of the residents. The programme finished with some sit-in yoga exercise.

It was so wonderful to see smiles and happiness on the guests faces and everyone said that they would look forward to our next visit.

Gokul Vrindavan Residential Home 18 April 2026

Sairam, the Sathya Sai Centres of Leicester and Narborough Branches volunteers visited Gokul Vrindavan on 18th April 2026.  There were 8 volunteers that interacted with the residents from 11.30-12.30pm in the lounge.

We started off with 3 aums and Gayatri mantra prayers and encouraged the staff and residents to join in.  Thereafter we all chanted the Hanuman Chalisa and then we start our activity of colouring in a drawing of a flowers.  Most residents were enthusiastic to colour with the pens provided and some also wrote their names next to their finished art.

A variety of games were played such as bean bag throwing, animal cards, connect 4, dominos, matching puzzles and pattern replication.

We then ended with aum Shanthi and said goodbye to the residents.

As my first experienced at that home I thought it was a Blessed opportunity to integrate with the elders and communicate with them whilst engaging their minds with a variety of activities. The residents looked happy to spend time with us and I felt honoured to have spent some quality time getting to know them. I look forward to many more opportunities like this and thank God for allowing me to serve my elders in such a fun way.

Leicester Sai Centres volunteers conduct activity sessions for the residents of Residential Homes

Bradley Hall Care Home 21 March 2026

Today I volunteered to help at the Bradley hall nursing home. It was my first time volunteering. The joy and smiles I saw on the ladies having a little interaction and fun is all worth it. We were there only a moment of their day but hope we left and made their day. I got to meet the other great volunteers and spread some love and joy to some of the residents at Bradley Hall and It left me with a feeling of warmth and love in my heart.

A Devotees reflection on service activity at Vishram Ghar

Although I have volunteered in other residential homes before, it was my first time going to Vishram Ghar. From the moment I arrived at the home i found it very welcoming.

We started by singing the Hanuman chalisa. it was amazing to see everyone joining in. There was a real sense of unity and shared happiness.

We then spent time talking with the residents about everyday life including the weather, families and memories of the past. Seeing their faces light up over shared memories, made me feel happy.

We also played some games together and did some arts and crafts. It was lovely to see them getting involved in the activities. It reminded me that no matter our age, we all enjoy fun and great company.

We ended the day with all the residents singing bhajans and you could see the positive energy in the room.

This experience reminded me that volunteering is about giving your time, kindness, effort to people who need it.

Although it was my first visit there, it certainly won’t be my last.
