Sunday 31 december 2023

 

  1. As previous years, Narborough Sai Centre is holding New Year’s Eve programme tonight.  The programme includes performance by Sister Roopa Panesar concluding with wonderful bhajans.  Programme starts at 9pm, all are welcome.
  2. Next Sunday 7th January 2024, Bal Vikas classes will resume after the Christmas break.  
  3. Also, next Sunday 7th January Girishbhai will be conducting a Parenting class.  All are welcome to join.

  1. Next Sunday, New Year’s Eve bhajans will be here at Soar Valley College.
  2. Also next Sunday, Narborough Sai Centre is holding New Year’s Eve programme on Sunday 31 December from 9pm at East West Community Centre.
  3. To celebrate Swami’s centenary birthday in 2025 our UK Organisation has pledged to undertake 1008 home/community bhajans between now and November 2025.  The purpose of this is to spread the message of peace across the country as there are unrest and wars in many parts of the world.  We need to spread Swami’s Love in the community and involve as many non-Sai devotees as possible.  Shortly, we will have a register where you will be able to put your name down if you would like to have bhajans in your home.

  1. Our bhajans on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve which falls on Sunday, will be here at Soar Valley College, and not at Sanathan Mandir as in previous years.
  2. Narborough Sai Centre would like to invite everyone to their Christmas celebrations, which will be taking place on Thursday 21 December at 7.30pm at East West Community Centre.
  3. Narborough Sai Centre is holding New Year’s Eve programme on Sunday 31 December from 9pm.

  1. Next Saturday 16 December we have our Christmas Party for our elderly guests.  Help is required for picking up guests and for hall setup.  If you are able to help in anyway please speak to Jagdishbhai or Savitaben.
  2. Also, next Saturday is the National Christmas Celebrations.  The theme for this year is ‘Journey to Sai’.  Registration is required if you wish to go.  See Information Desk for more details.

  1. Today we have Bal Vikas (SSE) Parenting Class.  Subject is “How parents can help improve concentration in children with activities”. Focus will be on understanding on your child’s concentration and how you can help to improve by keeping the child active.
  2. There is a Service Wing Meeting today here in the hall, so please stay behind to join in the discussions of the many programmes coming up in December.
  3. Next Sunday – there is Christmas Party for Bridge.  volunteers are needed from 8.00 until 2.00.  Please see Jagdishbhai or Savitaben for more details.
  4. On the following Sathurday, 16 December, we have Christmas Party for elderly guests.  Again, please see Jagdishai or Savitaben for more details if you would like to help.
  5. National Christmas celebration programme is on Saturday 16 December – more details at Information Desk.  Please note that you have to register for this event.  If you would like help with registering, please see any of the Coordinators.
  6. We have our Centre Christmas Programme on Sunday 17 December.  Chaplin Graham Thomas  has agreed to join us on the day.  More details of the programme next week.

  1. Today we have Holly & Rob from TEECH charity….say a few words about our food parcels & how TEECH take them to Moldova.  
  2. Next Sunday 3 December we will have our monthly Parenting Class conducted by Girishbhai after bhajans.
  3. A number of events coming up in December – Christmas Party for Bridge on Saturday 9 December and then following Saturday 16 December for elderly guests.  Please see Jagdishbhai and Savitaben for more details.

  5. Leicester Sai Centre Christmas party will be on Sunday 17 December with our special guest speaker Chaplin Graham Thomas.

  1. Today is Ladies Day – Roopaben to give a talk on Ladies Day.
  2. We are celebrating Diwali today – lovely Aankot on display here, and please join us for prasadam after this.
  3. Swami’s birthday celebrations – Paduka puja in the morning at East West centre from 6am and then the main programme at Ram Mandir from 7pm.
  4. On Saturday 25 November, we are going to pack the food parcels for Moldova.  Thank you to everyone for following our Ceiling on Desires sadhana and donating the food items for the needy in Moldova.  We will be packing these at Alpha Tutorials building at 308 Melton Road, Leicester, LE4 7SL.  Please come along if you would like to help – from 1pm to 5pm.
  5. On Sunday 26 November, TEECH charity members will be here to give a talk on their charity and how the food parcels we pack , help the needy people in Moldova.  They will collect the food parcels from here after bhajans.

As we have been announcing for the last few weeks, we are collecting food items and quality used and new clothes for the needy in Moldova.  This is our offering for Swami’s birthday under the banner of ‘Ceiling on Desires’.  Full list of items required is at the Information Desk and on the Centre website.  We will be packing the food parcels on 26th November.
  2. This weekend we have our Regional Akhanda Bhajans at the Shree Wanza Community Centre.   Please do come and join us.
  3. On 19th November we have two events; Regional Ladies Day will be in Wolverhampton.  If we have sufficient people wishing to attend we will try and arrange transport.  We will  also be celebrating Ankut.  If you would like to make an item of prasad then please see Kusumben.
  4. On 23rd November we will be celebrating Baba’s 98th birthday at Ram Mandir.  Programme starts at 7pm.  further information is available at the Information Desk and the Centre Website.

  1. Today Girishbhai will be conducting the parenting classes.  The topic will be on ‘Parental modelling in child development’.  The focus will be on understanding how parental modelling can influence in child’s development and behaviour.

  2.   2. To celebrate Swami’s birthday, we are doing food parcels for the needy in Moldova.  Full list of food items is on the Information Desk and on the website.  We will be doing this for a few weeks so please bring your items on Sunday.
  3. Next Saturday 4th November, National Birthday Celebrations will take place at Sandbach High School.  As there are limited spaces at the venue, registration is required.  We have a special guest, Brother Jagdish Chnadra who studied and taught at Swami’s Institute of Higher Learning.  Further details at the Information Desk.  To celebrate Swami’s Birthday a collection is being made for the local church and food bank.  Full list of items is on the Information Desk.
  4. Next Sunday 5th November there will be a Parenting Class from 10:15 onwards conducted by Girishbhai.
  5.   1. Please stay behind after bhajans as we will be celebrating Navratri Garba.

  2. As you are aware of the conflict that is persisting in the Middle East and there has been great loss of life.  As Swami has reminded us many times, the power of collective prayer has profound impact at times like these.  After all who else can ease the distress of communities and calm Mother Nature, but Swami.  With this in mind, we are requesting all devotees across the country to offer collective prayers to Bhagwan for the welfare of all Beings on Earth (“Samastha Lokah Sukhino Bhavanthu”) and to usher in Peace and Harmony.  We suggest we continue chanting the Gayatri Mantra nine times at 9.00pm every evening as we have been doing since Covid.
  3. Each year around this time of the year we do food parcel for a needy cause under the banner of Ceiling on Desire.  Like last year we will be collecting food parcels for Moldova.  Here to tell us more about this is Dev and Zainesh.
  4.   1. Today, Girishbhai will be conducting parenting classes, The topic will be on “Having a quality timewith your child”.  Girishbhai will be discussing top tips for parents to have productive period with their children.

  3. Coming Wednesday from 7pm to 9pm we have our second  instalment of “Back to Basics”workshop here at Soar Valley.  Do not miss it!  Inner Significance of Service and Team Building is the topic being discussed.  Lots of friendly interaction and tips shared by all.

  2. The Sai Centres of Leicester will be celebrating Krishna Janmastami on Thursday 7th September here at Soar Valley College.  The programme will commence at 7.30 pm, so please be seated by 7.15 and it will include Bhajans, a talk by Sister Kishori Jani (ISKCON) and Jhula darshan.  

  3. Next Sunday 10th September there will be a Study Circle on “What is Love”.  Please do have a think about what this means to you and we will have an engaging discussion.
  4. On the evening of Wednesday 13th September Morarbhai and Team have organised another wonderful “Back to Basics” programme.  This will be another wonderful opportunity for us to share and learn from each other the “Inner Significance of Service and Team Building”.  This will be held at Soar Valley College from 7pm to 9pm.

  5. This year’s National Prayers for Universal Peace, Rudhra Ekadashi will take place on Sunday 17th September between 8.30 am to 4.30 pm at Balaji Temple, Dudley.  If you would like to attend then please register.  More details at the Information Desk.

  6.   1. Last Saturday Dental Clinic was held for the guests of The Bridge at the Willowbrook Dental Practice.  The dental practitioners provided dental checks to 11 guests during the session. 
  2. Yesterday we had the Global Service Day at Bradgate Park.  Thank you to all the volunteers for all your compassion and love that you showed to our guests.  They all thoroughly enjoyed the day.
  3. Today is the last day of Bal Vikas classes.  Next term begins in September.  If you know of any child(ren) that would like to attend from next term then please give their names to the Bal Vikas Coordinator or any other Centre Coordinators.

  1. Today, Girishbhai will be conducting a Parenting Workshop on ‘Managing Mobile Fancy in Children, through quality time, good communication and parental modelling’.
  2. On Tuesday 4th July, we have our Centre Committee meeting via Zoom.  Discussions take place on upcoming events and new ideas and thoughts that devotees may have.  If you would like to join the zoom meeting, please see one of the Coordinators.
  3. Next Saturday 8th July we have our Global Service Day.  We are taking our guests to Bradgate Park and then to a nearby hall.  Its a wonderful opportunity for all of us to share our love and wonderful moments with our guests.  If you can help on the day by providing transport or help in any other way then please see Savitaben and Jagdishbhai.
  4. Today, we have the Library Book shop.  Please do collect books on display for you to take away and keep.
  5. Next Sunday, ‘Take Refuge in SAI’ is the theme of the study circle organised by our Spiritual Coordinators.  Please join us for live discussion after bhajans.

  1.  We have been announcing in the past few months, the Sri Sathya Sai Organisation has launched ‘Sathya Sai Prema Tharu’ an initiative to plant 10 million trees around the world for Swami’s 100th birthday.  To tell us more about the wonderful seva service is Bhavnaben, our Regional Service Coordinator.
  2. Today we have our mobile phone workshop.  Experts are here to help you with any questions or queries you may have in using your mobile phone or tablet.  So please stay behind after bhajans.
  3. Next Sunday 2nd July we will be celebrating Guru Purnima.  The spiritual team have organised a wonderful programme.

  1.  Having heard wonderful bhajans by the Bal Vikas, we will be having the second half of the Father’s Day programme, so please stay behind and join in the wonderful games and activities organised by the Bal Vikas Gurus and thereafter for a wonderful refreshments.
  2. On Sunday 25th June we have our  Back to Basics – Using a mobile phone workshop. This is your chance to learn and understand how to use your mobile phone or tablet in the ever changing world.  Remember to bring your phone or tablet and there will be someone here to help you understand your mobile device better.  If you have any questions then have them ready when you come.

  1.  Last Monday 5th June, Leicester Sai Centres organised an Eye Clinic at The Bridge. It was a successful event and here is Alisha and Ashni to talk to tell us more about the event.
  2. Please stay behind today after bhajans, as we have our Service Wing meeting. There are a few important events coming up and we will require everyone’s help.
  3. When we had our Back to Basics – ASK workshop, one of the topics covered was on Judgement: What is judgement – this is to form opinion about another person based on our thoughts, feeling and evidence.
    • Thought leads to judgement – so have good thoughts.
    • Do not judge others quickly, often based on superficial information.
    • Judge yourself – find faults in yourself not in others.
  4. On Sunday 25th June we will be holding a Back to Basics – Using a mobile phone workshop. This is a great opportunity to ask questions using various facilities on using your mobile phone and we’ll have someone to help you.
  5. Next Sunday 18th June we will be celebrating Father’s Day and Sports Day.  Bal Vikas children and Gurus have planned an action packed programme for fathers and grandfathers followed by light refreshments.

  1. On Tuesday 6th June, we have face to face committee meeting at 7.30 pm at Soar Valley College.  This is a good opportunity for all to have a say in how the Centre is run and take part in future events.

  2. Next Sunday, after bhajans we have our Service Team meeting.  We have a number of events coming up, including Global Service day on 8th July.  Please make sure you can attend the meeting.
  3. As a Sai Centre we have been providing Meals on Wheels service for over 30 years.  If you would like to volunteer for this wonderful service, please see Kusumben at the Information Desk .

  1. Yesterday, the Young Adults organised a Youth Day (My Sai and I)for all young adults and senior Bal Vikas group to take part in bhajans, interactive discussions and much more.  Here is Bhavesh and fellow youths to give us their reflections on the programme.

Sri Sathya Sai National Council have launched a service seva project to supply food and clothing items to displaced Ukrainians.  This service initiative is launched under the banner of Ceiling On Desire programme.  If you would like to participate in this wonderful seva then please see one of the coordinators.

  3. As announced previously, this year, we will need to plant many trees as possible.  ‘Sathya Sai Prem Tharu’ is to plant 10 million trees as part of an offering to Bhagwan for His centenary celebrations.  This could be fruit trees in your own garden.  If you do plant trees than please take a photograph so we can upload on to the International website.  For more information, please see one of the coordinators.

  1. Bhajan wing would like to request anyone who would like to sing bhajans in the Centre to talk to Asha.  Full support will be provided.
  2.  Last Wednesday we had a “Back To Basic Workshop”.  With nearly 40 adults and youth attending a very useful and engaging session.  Thank you to all who came and participated in the workshop.
  3. Today after bhajans Girishbhai will be conducting a Parenting Workshop for all parents and Grandparents.
  4. As we have been announcing for a few weeks now, next Saturday 13th May, Young Adults from the National Team have organised a Young Adults Walk at Rutland Water Nature Reserve.  For more information, please speak to any of the coordinators.
  5. Next Sunday we will be celebrating Easwaramma Day programme.  Don’t miss it!  Its going to be a wonderful programme organised by the Bal Vikas gurus and children.  Refreshments will be served after the programme.

  1. Today after bhajans we have a study circle on “God Is Always With You”.  So please stay and join us for a captivating discussion
  2.  Today we have a Children’s and Adult’s libraries in the foyer.  Please do take time to have a look at the collection, and take as many items as you wish.
  3. On Tuesday 2nd May, we have our Centre Committee Meeting via Zoom from 7.30pm.  Please do join us and have your say in how the Centre is run.
  4. On Wednesday 3rd May, starting at 7pm we have a “Back To Basics” workshop.  Morarbhai and Team who have accumulated years of experiences will be leading the workshop.  The workshop will take place at Soar Valley College, in the Refectory that is located as you enter from the Main Entrance into the school.
  5. Next Sunday 7th May we will be celebrating Buddha Poornima.  We have a special guest Brother Bhante, who will be talking about the festival after bhajans.
  6. Next Sunday 7th May Girishbhai will be conducting a Parenting Workshop after bhajans.

  1. Tomorrow evening at 7.30pm, we have the Aradhana Mahotsavam programmehere at Soar Valley College.  Please be seated by 7.15pm.

  4. Next Sunday 30th April there will be a study circle after bhajans entitled “God Will Always Be With You”.  Everyone is welcome to join.

On Wednesday 3rd May, between 7pm to 9pm, we will be conducting a workshop entitled “Back to Basics”.  This is a must for all of us.  As a Sai family we need to keep learning and practicing the principle of unity, commitment, communication and togetherness.  The aim of the workshop is to learn from each other these ideals and principles.

  4. On Monday 24th it will be 12 years since Swami took Maha Samadhi.  We have a special aradhana Mahotsavam programme from 7.30pm here at soar Valley.  Please be seated by 7.15pm.
  5. On Saturday 29th April there will be the first Region 4 and Region 5 joint sadhana meeting in Derby.  It is important meeting for all those going on the pilgimage.

  1. Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust with Sri Sathya Sai Global Council has launched Sri ‘Sathya Sai Prem
    Tharu’ . This is an initiative to plant 10 million trees as part of an offering Bhagwan for his centenary celebrations. We are all asked to plant many trees as possible. This could be fruit trees in your own garden or trees at a designated site where tree planting is taking place.
    An App has been created to upload your photos. Here you will be able to see this global green project taking place. For mor information please see one of the coordinators.
  2. Our organisation and other organisation using Soar Valley College, have received communication stating that there has been an increase in number of people parking on the roundabout outside the main entrance. This is in allowed as it blocks entrance/exit for the emergency vehicle. We do not want to spoil our organisation name so please park in the designated car park area. By all means drop off your passengers and then go and park your car in the car park.

  1. As announced last week, The Sathya Sai Organisation UK has organised a Seva service for the victims of the devastating earthquake that took place in Turkey and Syria. The organisation is acquiring number of clothing items such as Jackets, Joggers, Number of thermal clothing items. This service will be performed under the banner of ‘Ceiling on desires’. We only have this week to secure these items. If you would like to participate in this seva please see Bipinbhai or Hemantbhai.
  2. Next Saturday, 4th of March, we have our Regional Office Bearers Conference in Birmingham. It is envisaged that all office bearers and active workers should attend. In the afternoon there is Sadhana Meeting after the conference. This is compulsory for all devotees attending the pilgrimage in July.

  1. What a wonderful Maha Shivratri program we had for the 12 hour. Hope you all had an opportunity to participate in the wonderful vibration.
  2. As you are all aware of the devastating earthquake that took place in Turkey and Syria. We have an opportunity to participate in a wonderful seva service. The National Service team has started a service project to supply items of warm clothing for the victims of the earthquake. Items such as Jackets, Hoodies, Winter Hat, and Gloves. This service will be
    performed under the banner of ‘Ceiling on desires’. We have limit time to secure the required items. If you would like to participate in this seva please see Bipinbhai or Hemantbhai.

  2. We now have new Committee in place for 2023. Bipinbhai has now accepted the roll of 
    President, Hemantbhai as vice present, Jagdishbhai, Savitaben and Hansaben to continue as service coordinators, Jaybhai and Vijayanbhai as the spiritual coorinators, Roopaben as the new SSE coordinator with Sujathaben as Assistant. Ashaben to continue as the bhajan coordinator, Harishini as the Young Adult till summer and Zainesh as PA/Media coordinator.
    We would like to thank Vinodbhai for his dedication hard work in taking us through last two very difficult year.
